Poster made for the VU Universiteit, Amsterdam. Was comissioned for a series of lectures and conversations around the topic of Decolonization.

Publication made for the Gerrit Rietveld Academie Graduation Show project called Rietveld Review(ed), in 2020. The design had to be made prior to the text, a tough but fun challenge. Essentially coming up with a template for the content of the publication. This happens since the project is for artists and curators, external to the institution,  to reflect (review) the artists and art that is being made in the academy.  An added challenge was that there was no limit on how extensive the texts might be so I had to come-up with alternative bindings for different text lengths.

Goedemorgen Gerrit (dutch for Good Morning Gerrit) is a Dutch-language information morning event to introduce the Gerrit Rietveld Academie to Dutch people ready to start their college life. The event took place online in 2021 due to the corona measures. The aim is to introduce the school and its courses. I wanted to create something exciting and easy to digest since the event was being done in the morning and through Zoom I  wanted to take this element in my favor. The personalized pixel type, over a dawn gradient combined with car racing games was the foundation for this project.

I was commissioned to design and print  the flyer for the “Becoming a Ghost” exhibition at FOAM Amsterdam. “Becoming a Ghost” is the master’s
graduation project of the artist Giath Taha. As he describes: “The work represents the ambiguous displacement of the ghost position, which hangs between two binaries such as life/death and actuality/ virtuality.”  I
worked in close collaboration with the artist, the curator of FOAM at the time,  Mirjam Kooiman, and the printing house  Robstolk. I had total freedom in the design  and took care of the printing and paper selection.
The final work was an A3 foldout  publication printed in full color, offset.

Vincent op Vrijdag is party that happens in the Van Gogh Museum, they describe as “a unique evening with live music and a surprising program, in collaboration with young, local talents, makers and initiatives, it consists of live performances, talks and tours, DJs, a cocktail bar and special AV projections.”  These fl yers were made with a custom type sewed on textile, scanned and vectorized.
These are two images of the same fl yer, on  the left we have the front and on the right  the back of the fl yer. I used both sides of  the sewed textile on the flyer to play a bit
ith this two dimmensionality of it.

I was part of LACU during my studies, and I proposed to redesign their logo. It used to be a complex drawing with many elements, but I decided to take all of them and condense them in this logo. Many people don’t identify fi sh with Latin America, but LACU did not want to forget the colonial past of our continent, nor the fact that we feel like fi sh out of water by being so far from home in a very different culture.

These two posters came from the question, “What is a playground?” Growing up, I would fi nd myself hanging out in playgrounds, and as time passed, I would still be there but for different purposes. As a child, I was playing around; as a teen, I was hanging around. On the left: An architectural imagination of the space. On the right: A collage of drawings I made of the different people who one may fi nd there throughout a day. I wanted to show the diversity of people and the life that this communal space can bring.

Farida Sedoc is a Graphic Designer and Activist based in Amsterdam she hosted a workshop where she requested us to bring imagery of political causes we are connected to. Luckily, I collect imagery from all sorts of books, so I was quite prepared in this aspect. The cause that I feel connected to still is colonization, a big part of which comes from me being Brazilian and an immigrant in Europe. The workshop lasted fi ve hours, with four for poster making and one for the heat press process. Four posters were made, varying in dimensions.

The Gerrit Rietveld Academie Fashion Department enlisted the Graphic Design department to create an identity for their graduation fashion show. Collaborating with Bram Romkes, we aimed to capture movement in a visual language inspired by computers. Our solution involved using JavaScript code to convert real-time images into an interactive poster. The poster seamlessly embedded live recordings within it, resulting in an engaging and dynamic fi nal proposal. My role encompassed designing the typeface, coding, and creating the integration system for the poster and live recording. Meanwhile, Bram handled the animation and image layout.
